Fairy Tail Episode 9 Summary

Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Gray, Makarov, and Happy are lost in Clover Canyon and they find a town in the middle of the valley that is suspiciously empty of people. What is wrong with the situation and where are the people?

Bisca Moulin and Alzack Connel find tracks leading into Clover Canyon and they head back to Fairy Tail to report to Mirajane. It seems that Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, Makarov, and Happy entered Clover Canyon for some reason and the area is a difficult one to navigate and even the most experienced tracker and hunter has gotten lost in the canyon. Mirajane is worried but feels a little better knowing that Makarov is with them.

Lucy is upset with Happy because they are lost and now everyone is hungry, although Erza doesn't want to admit that she is hungry. Happy finds a school of winged fish and says that they are a legendary delicacy. They try fishing for one of them and wind up only catching one of them. They feel that if they split the fish up that it will only make them hungrier and they give the fish to Happy. He gobbles it up and then tells them that it tasted terrible and tries to spit it out.

After a little while, they come across a village and it seems to be deserted. Natsu and Gray find food and drink on a table in a house that is still warm. Natsu wants to eat but Erza is suspicious and tells him not to and sends he and Gray out to find some mushrooms while she a Makarov investigate the village.

Natsu, Lucy, Gray and Happy find some mushrooms in the forest and Natsu and Gray start eating some of them and then suddenly, mushrooms sprout out of their heads. Then Happy eats one and a mushroom sprouts out of his head too. They wonder if the villagers had this happen to them as well.

Meanwhile, Erza and Makarov find seams throughout the village and are suspicious of the pattern. Just then, the mushrooms that are on Natus and Gray fall off, but the one on Happy stays and they run back to the village and as they find Erza and Makarov, the seams start glowing and the village starts to change. Makarov tells them to climb up and he says that he wants to check something out. they climb up and see the buildings and other things turn into monsters and they realize that the village was a giant magic circle. Erza tells them that when they were investigating the village, she came across a storage shed full of magical tools. She says that all the tools had an evil purpose and that the village must have belonged to a dark guild. Makarov surmises that the guild members were eaten by the creatures. He then says that since the creatures are alive, then they can eat them. Erza, Natsu, Gray and Happy charge in and are determined to have something to eat. They defeat the monsters and find that they are inedible. 

the monsters then reappear and they have to battle them again. The magic circle that they are coming from starts to glow and then explodes. Makarov is calm as they fall and Erza thinks that he stopped the circle from destroying everything and also canceled the Take Over spell that had been placed on the villagers although Makarov won't say that he did do it.
