Natsu gets an S-class with the help of Happy and he convinces Lucy to come with him to collect the reward. Why is the island cursed and who is behind the curse?
Mirajane tells Makarov that one of the S class jobs was taken without permission and Laxus says that he saw Happy take it. Laxus says that since they took it without permission, they will be expelled when they return, if they return. Makarov tells Laxus to go and stop Natsu and Laxus refuses. Gray tells Makarov that he will stop Natsu.
Natsu, Lucy, and Happy arrive at the port city where they originally met and are trying to find a boat and are found by Gray. He tells them that they have to return to Fairy Tail or face expulsion. Natsu refuses and he and Gray start to charge up their magic to fight. The last sailor that they were asking sees that they are magic users and offers to take them to the island of Gulana. Natsu knocks out Gray while he is distracted and they tie him up and take him with them so he won't go back to Fairy Tail and tell them what happened and send Erza.
On the way to the island, the sailor tells them his name is Bobo and shows them the results of the curse on the island by revealing his left arm and hand. They have a demonic form and he points to the island of Galuna. They look at the island and then turn to ask him something and find that he has disappeared and a giant wave is approaching.
Lucy wakes up on the beach of Galuna Island and finds the others. Gray agrees to help them since they are at the island and if they complete the mission, then Makarov will have to acknowledge them. They set off and find the village that had requested their help and the villagers all have parts of them that are a form of monster or demon. The village chief, Mota, was the one that requested their help. He tells them that ever since the moon changed to a purple color, they have been cursed. He says that once they turn into a demon and stay that way, they lose their mind and they have to kill them to protect themselves. They tell them that they want Fairy Tail to destroy the moon in order to stop the curse!
They stay in the village for the night and the next day they head out to investigate the curse. They are attacked by a giant mouse wearing a maid uniform and Gray creates an ice floor and it slips and falls and knocks itself out. They find an ancient temple and go inside. While they are there, Natsu pounds his feet on the floor to test it and they fall down into a secret cave. They search ahead and find a giant demon encased in ice. Gray is shocked and nervous to find this particular demon here. It's Deliora here. It ravaged his homeland ten years ago and his teacher, Ul, gave her life to seal it in that ice. They hear voices approaching and hide. One of them has thick eyebrows and blue spiked hair (Yuka), another is a cat man (Toby) and a young woman (Sherry) comes in and says that they must find the intruders. They leave when they hear a noise created by Happy. Gray is determined to stop them from releasing Deliora.
